Unable to walk, the powerful fireplug of a man (he was a former star guard on the Dallas Jesuit High School football team) pulled himself along with his elbows treating the wounded as he went, remembering all along the mantra of corpsmen and medics alike: ‘clear the airway, stop the bleeding, prevent or treat for shock.’Īccording to U.S. Three separate times he was hit, incurring wounds to both arms and both legs. Seventy percent of those in his unit were killed or wounded. “They pretty much wiped out our unit,” Kuklenski said. Instead of the usual 30 NVA, more than three times that many showed up. Suddenly the critically-wounded Marine broke into song. Goss and Kuklenski tied off what was left to stop the bleeding, then administered morphine. This game has been savaged on every review site known to man, nobody is excited for it, and everyone that plays it, hates it. Oh and speaking of trinkets, they are all worse than the trinkets in DD1, AND they also fucked over the modding scene that could've salvaged this game by going 3D. You also have to grind out everything else, including items, trinkets, carriage upgrades, inventory upgrades, and only after you've already played for dozens upon dozens of hours will the game actually be in a playable state, except by that point you're already sick of the game and don't want to play it anymore. Affliction/Virture replaced by an objectively inferior relationship system, dungeon delving removed for an objectively inferior carriage driving + Slay The Spire pick your route, roster and hamlet management utterly removed in exchange for the Altar Of Hope which requires you to lock in a single composition of heroes for multiple hours in order to unlock all their skills, and then if you want to use anyone new you have to grind more candles to get any other heroes up to the same level of competence. It's a shit game, they pretty much took everything good about DD1, removed it, and then added more grind and repetition, and everything they added to replace for what they removed is an obvious downgrade form what came before. ![]() ![]() Later on, I tried to make a functioning tri-stack to go conquer stuff at a point where I had barons researched in the dvar tree and the healy-ranged T3 dudes from celestian. This is long enough to build some excitement and allow for fun and tactical decision-making, but quick enough that each turn doesn't get bogged down with several XCOM missions' worth of combat. Developer Triumph Studios has triumphed in striking a tricky pacing balance, with battles usually lasting around three to five turns. On the bright side, getting to the end has a great flow whether you’re on story or random maps. There are a variety of victory conditions, from political unification to deploying a doomsday device, but without those meaningful storylines steering me toward them I just wasn’t as excited to get there. The one downside is that once I looked beyond these hand-crafted scenarios (of which there are 13 in all and take anywhere between one and several hours to complete) the random maps that make up the meat of Planetfall felt lacking in comparison. I found these to be the most entertaining part of Planetfall, challenging me to explore ancient ruins, get to know named and voiced characters, chase forbidden secrets, and navigate sometimes complex politics that often pit different ideologies within the same base faction against one another. You can get to know each of the factions through a handful of well-written, quest-driven story scenarios set on pre-made maps that help flesh out their place in the galaxy. ![]() |
